At HookedPickleball, we believe good coaching starts with understanding how people learn.
Whether you’re picking up a paddle for the first time, working on consistency, helping your child grow as an athlete, or simply looking for more opportunities to play, our goal is to make learning pickleball engaging, encouraging, and purposeful.

HookedPickleball was founded by husband-and-wife team Marc and Gail Villanueva, both dual-certified pickleball coaches through UPCC and RacketPro by Collin Johns.
They are joined by a team of certified guest coaches, allowing HookedPickleball to offer private coaching, clinics, kids programs, open plays, and organized events.
Marc and Gail are also accredited coaches with RallyPoint Pickleball and Filinvest Hospitality, while Coach Marc is a JOOLA-sponsored coach through RallyPoint.
Pickleball for Kids
Kids do not simply learn like smaller versions of adults, so our kids programs are intentionally designed around how young players learn best.
Training Grounds is our structured development program for kids, combining progressive skills training, small-group coaching, purposeful drills, and game-based learning. Players develop fundamentals, movement, court awareness, decision-making, and confidence, then apply what they learn through guided games and Game Days. Just as important, we teach kindness, honesty, teamwork, and sportsmanship as part of becoming a well-rounded young athlete.

Young players can also start through our Get Hooked Beginners’ Clinics for Kids, receive more individualized support through private coaching, or explore pickleball through Pickleball Explorers, our story-driven adventure program for younger players.
Our kids programs are led by Coach Gail, an internationally published and critically acclaimed children’s author whose experience working with young audiences helps shape how we teach, communicate, and design learning experiences for kids.
Coaching, Community & Play
HookedPickleball goes beyond formal lessons.
We organize open plays where players can meet others, gain game experience, and enjoy different play formats in a welcoming environment. We also work with companies, communities, schools, and organizations to create customized clinics, open plays, team activities, tournaments, and other pickleball experiences. Whether we are coaching one player, training a group of kids, hosting an open play, or organizing a larger activity, our philosophy remains the same:
